The Roanoke Baptist Church of Liberty, South Carolina
Who are we? What are we? What is our Goal?
I am the Pastor of Roanoke Baptist Church and have been for the past 33 years. I would like to answer these questions for you.
Who are we? We are a body of Born Again - Blood washed - Baptized Believers. Together, we make up the Roanoke Baptist Church Family.
What are we? We are an Independent Baptist Church, but we are totally dependent upon our Lord Jesus Christ. We are traditional in our worship. We have a Church choir and Youth choir singing Psalms, Hymns and spiritual songs. We preach from the King James Authorized Bible only. We are a friendly Church, welcoming all visitors who come to worship with us. We are a mission hearted Church supporting over 50 missionaries and mission projects monthly as the Lord leads us.
What is our Goal? Our goal is to reach the lost in our community, our country and the world around us with the true Gospel of Jesus Christ. To present the Plan of Salvation to whosoever will hear. To encourage the Saints with the message of the soon coming of Christ, the blessed hope of the Church. To warn sinners of a literal burning Hell.
If you are looking for a Church like this come give us a try.
Pastor Dr. Jack Shook

On Sunday August 5th the Pulpit Committee of Roanoke Baptist Church made the following recommendation to the Church:
Roanoke Baptist Church Pulpit Committee Recommendation for Pastor
On Sunday July 1st, 2018 Pastor Jack Shook informed the Church of his Retirement and Resignation as the Pastor of Roanoke Baptist Church effective July 31, 2018. One Month earlier on June 2nd, 2018 he informed the Deacon Board of his intentions and told us to begin to pray and seek God’s will for a replacement for him as Pastor of Roanoke Baptist Church. He gave us no recommendation and mentioned no names but only gave us one directive – and that was to pray and seeks God’s will for this position and not man’s will. The Deacon board formed the Pulpit committee and began immediately to pray for God’s will. We began to meet on Sunday nights after Church to discuss the issues and to openly discuss where we felt the Lord was leading us. Each member of the Pulpit committee was tasked to seek the will of God personally and when we reached a unanimous decision we would present that decision to the Church. We determined that we had three characteristics that we wanted in our next Pastor . First, he must love the Church and be willing to seek God’s direction for the Church and lead is in that direction. Second, he must be willing to uphold our standards and keep us in the spiritual paths set down by our previous Pastor Dr. Jack Shook. Third and most importantly, he must be the one God wants for our Church and not the choice of any one man. We have not been very out spoken about this very important job that has been given to us to do. It is not because we were taking it lightly but it is because we knew the enormous responsibility that lay in our hands. For the last two months we have with our whole hearts been diligently praying and seeking God’s will for this position and after two months of praying God has worked in each of our hearts individually and lead us to the same conclusion. Tonight, we recommend as the next Pastor of Roanoke Baptist Church Brother Zack Nix. Brother Zack Nix is a young man that meets the three characteristics we were looking for from the beginning. First, he loves the Church and has proven that through his tireless efforts around the Church such as working with the Youth and the Youth Summer camp ministries, the Choirs, and music programs and in assisting Pastor Shook for the last year in visiting and praying for us individually. He has proven through different events in his life that he will put God first when it comes to the Church and not the desires of man. Second, he has proven that he is in favor of our standards and spiritual paths that we have been lead in for the past 35 years by our former Pastor Dr. Jack Shook, because he has also walked in those same paths and been raised with those same principles his entire life. Third, each member of the Pulpit committee, is in perfect peace and unison that this is the man God wants to lead us as the next Pastor of Roanoke Baptist Church. It is not a choice that was reached lightly and it is not a choice made by personal feelings or influence. We believe we have God’s choice. It is now up to the Roanoke Baptist Church family to pray for guidance from the Lord concerning this matter. We will be voting in two weeks on Sunday August 19th in the afternoon Service.
